The Sale of the Taj Ma Garaj
One of the most expensive collections of classic Porsches (and other vehicles) recently sold last month, totaling over $5.7 million for the total auction.
The famous Taj Ma Garaj collection, once owned by John Dixon who passed away in 2013, went up for auction last month. The auction led by RM Sotheby’s was hosted at the garage space itself, address 300 S. Perry St Dayton, Ohio, and wherein the 32 vehicles including Porsche and Volkswagen were sold. With a full house of attendees from over 20 countries in attendance, this collection drew enthusiasts from across the world.
The Porsche vehicles were of course the biggest and best auction items, with the top ten vehicle sales equating for almost $3.5 million of the total $5.7 million. All in immaculate condition, the number one auction item was the 1957 Porsche 356 A Carrera GT Speedster, which sold for a total $1.38 million. Meanwhile, the second vehicle, a 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 Touring, sold for only $412,000.
