The 935 Remake, Ready for the Track
The Porsche 911 GT2 RS was a limited production car, and still is, however Porsche have decided take advantage of the indescribable performance of the GT2 RS and design a gorgeous remake of the 935/78 racecar, also known as Moby Dick.
Initially, the design was released at Rennsport Reunion in Laguna Seca, and was expected to only be available in one color; instead, Porsche now has chosen that the limited run of 77 models can be fitted with a variety of different classic racing decals, such as the Martini livery. Built with the full performance specs of the GT2 RS with 690bhp 3.8-litre twin-turbo flat-six engine, the body has been swapped for a full, carbon-reinforced plastic bodykit, and a legitimately massive spoiler wing. The LEDs have even been built into the front of the vehicle, hidden to the sides of the front bumper.
This vehicle isn’t built for the road though, even with the GT2 RS spec engine; instead, should you choose to purchase this vehicle, expect to use it only at the track. It’s a non-homologated track vehicle, built for clubsport events and private racetrack training. And with a lighter weight by 150 kg than the actual GT2 RS, and an interior with fully modernized racing utilities such as welded-in cage, motorsport wheel, Codsworth-supplied data logger, and one seat mounted beneath a safety/escape hatch, the GT2 RS is ready for track times.
But you better be ready for an $817,000 expense (before taxes), as this 935 remake is quite an expensive piece, even for a limited run of only 77. But even if you’re not looking to purchase one of these 77 vehicles, you can appreciate just how gorgeous the vehicle is, especially in all the different racing liveries available.
